RENK wins the 89th Gazi Derby

 

 



 

 

Renk (Divine Light - Busi / Mujtahid), owned by Mrs. Gulcin Kundakci and trained by Mr. Cengiz Aydogan, crossed the finish line ahead with a finish time of 2.30.82 at 89th Gazi Derby, with his jockey Ahmet Celik.

 

 

Mrs. Gülcin Kundakci, received her cup from Mr. Fahri Kasirga, General Secretary of Turkish Presidency.

 

 



 

17 colts and 4 fillies, which are all 3yo, participated in the Gazi Derby, which is named after the founder of Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. 89th of the Derby was held on turf track on 2400 meters with the first prize of 1.350.000 TL at İstanbul Veliefendi Racecourse on Sunday, June 28th.

 

Turkish Oaks winner TATVAN INCISI (Scarface-Hanimkiz/Always A Classic) owned by Mr. Hikmet Kizilca came second with her jockey Selim Kaya and followed by Mr. A. Ayhan Ekmekcibasi’s Sait Akson Stakes winner GUNGOR BABA (Strike The Gold-Tekyildiz/Mountain Cat) with Gökhan Kocakaya and Mr. Bulent Dogan’s Mehmet Akif Ersoy Stakes runner-up OGLUM BERAT (Victory Gallop-Halling Charge/Halling) with his jockey Halis Karatas. The margins of the Derby as follows: 2 1/2 Length-5 L.-1 L.

 

Starting its racing career in 2014 in Izmir, RENK obtained his 10th victory at the 89th Gazi Derby (first G1 win).

 

After the 89th Gazi Derby, Mrs. Kundakci said “I’m very happy to win this important race. Gazi Derby is a priviliged race to attend and win. I would like to thank everyone who contibuted to us.”


 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Vasip Sahin, Governor of Istanbul, presented his prize to the winning trainer Mr. Cengiz Aydogan while Dr. Nihat Pakdil, Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry of  Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry and President of Board of High Stewards, presented his plate to jockey Ahmet Celik.
