MISS HELİN Wins the 62nd of 1000 Guineas

 

62nd edition of the 1000 Guineas (G1), the most important meeting of 3yo thoroughbred fillies, and the first classical race of the season was held on 14th May 2017.

 

 

MISS HELIN (Bin Ajwaad - Golden Victory /Acclamation), staging a breathtaking struggle until the last seconds, won this important race with her jockey Ahmet Çelik. The successful filly is owned by Remzi Ayyıldız, bred by O. Mehmet Kurt and trained by İbrahim Bekiroğulları.

The race with 500.000 TL prize money, was held on turf on 1600 meters with the participation of 8 fillies of 3yo. Even though the champion filly WANETA (Mountain Cat - Blushing Doe / Running Stag) owned by Murat Kadaifçioğlu jumped out of the start late, she obtained the 2nd place with her jockey Halis Karataş. BLACK CHINESE (Out Of Control - The De Chine / Kendor) owned by Batur Adalı finished the race as third with Özcan Yıldırım and followed by ACQUAPURA (Three Valleys - Acquavita / Royal Abjar) owned by Duygu Fatura.

 

 

 

 MISS HELİN achieved to bring the most important classic trophy home, at the 6th start of its racing career. Its last victories were a Maiden Race on 29th October 2016, Handicap 14 on 12th March 2017 and Esat Özbilen Cup (Condition 6) on 2nd April 2017, all at Adana Yeşiloba Racecourse.

 

İbrahim Bekiroğulları, trainer of MISS HELİN, also won 2000 Guineas with PERSHING and Hasan Adalı Cup, with TATVAN İNCİSİ on the same day.

 

MISS HELİN is the winner of the first leg of Triple Crown

1000 & 2000 Guineas are the first leg of Triple Crown. If the winners of 1000 & 2000 Guineas also wins Gazi Derby and Ankara Cup, they will be winning both the Triple Crown and obtain the prize money of 1.350.000 TL.

 

While the record for 1000 Guineas is still preserved by TEXAS  GAL with 1.34.88, the finish time for MISS HELİN  was 1.38.00. The margins of the race was H – 4L – 1/2L.

 

 

H. Turgut Alakuş, General Secretary of TJK presented a cup to Remzi Ayyıldız, the winning owner.

 

 

 

Sadettin Atığ, Executive Board Member of TJK, presented a plate to İbrahim Bekiroğulları, the winning trainer and Yüksel Göktürk, Permanent Member of TJK presented a plate to Ahmet Çelik, the winning jockey.

 

Behçet Homurlu, Vice-Chairman of EMHF and Member of Board of High Stewards also the former President of TJK and Çetin Özdemir, Istanbul Racecourse Manager also attended the ceremony after the race.
