Sir Alex Ferguson’s Colt CHESS MOVE at Veliefendi Racecourse

Longines International Racing Festival, Turkish racing sector’s gateway to the world, will be hosting owners, trainers, jockeys and successful thoroughbreds from all around the world and stage breathtaking performances.

CHESS MOVE (Kodiac – Azia / Desert Story), owned by Manchester United’s legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and trained by George Baker is arriving Turkey on Wednesday, 30th August to participate in the International Thrace Trophy (G3) which will be held on Sunday, September 3rd.

CHESS MOVE started its racing career on June 22nd at Lingfield Racecourse, finishing the race on 1200 meters on dirt (synthetic) in 6th place. The colt obtained its first victory at Epsom Downs on 1200 meters on turf on July 13th.

Sir Alex Ferguson, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and 38 trophies as the Manager of Manchester United, is also known for his interest in horse racing for over 15 years.

Sir Alex Ferguson, achieved great success in the racing sector as well with ROCK OF GIBRALTAR that he co owned with John Magnier and J.P. McManus. Rock of Gibraltar was named Europe's Horse of the Year of 2002, and set a world record of seven consecutive Group 1 victories. Rock of Gibraltar is the sire of Group 1 winners Society Rock, Eagle Mountain and Mount Nelson.
