International Racing Festival Ends

WONNEMOND Is the Winner of the Longines International Topkapi Trophy

WONNEMOND (Areion – Windaja / Surako), owned by Mr. Stall Frohnbach and trained by Mr. Sascha Smrczek, won Longines International Topkapi Trophy (G2) with his jockey Daniele Porcu on September 3rd . The finish time for WONNEMOND was 1.35.28.

Longines International Topkapi Trophy, the most important race of the festival was held on 1600 meters on turf track. 10 thoroughbreds participated in the race and the winner was awarded with 270.000 €. The total purse of the race was 459.000 €.

Godolphin’s DREAM CASTLE (Frankel – Sand Vixen / Dubawi) finished the race as second and  followed by Hülya Yıldırım’s YILDIRIMBEY (Sabırlı – Dicoş / Sun Music), and Kemal Kurt’s TOUCH THE WOLF (Kurtiniadis – Acoustic / Namid) . The margins of the race were: 1 L - 2 L - Nose.

 
Longines Prize for Elegance

 “Longines Prize for Elegance” was also presented on Sunday, the last day of the Festival at Veliefendi Racecourse.

Arzu Aracı, the winner of the prize was awarded with a watch from “Conquest Classic” collection. Beliz Erdem Ünsal, Longines Brand Coordinator presented the award. Mr. Murat Kadaifçioğlu, Permanent Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey and Mrs. Aylin Sevim, Corporate Communications Manager of the Jockey Club of Turkey also attended to the ceremony.

Beliz Erdem Ünsal, Longines Brand Coordinator presented a trophy and watch to Stall Frohnbach, the winning owner.

Mr. Louis Romanet presented a plate to Sascha Smrczek, the winning trainer while Daniele Porcu, the winning jockey received his plate from Mr. Şeref Somtürk, Member of Board of High Stewards and Permanent Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey.

 
Mrs. Beliz Erdem Ünsal also presented LONGINES watches to the winning trainer Sascha Smrczek and winning jockey Daniele Porcu.

MURAAQIB Wins the International
Malazgirt Trophy

MURAAQIB (Munjiz - Tashreefat / Bengali D’Albret) owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by François Rohaut won the Malazgirt Trophy (G1) with François Xavier Bertras. The finish time for the winner was 1.46.14.

6 Purebred Arabians of 3 yo and up participated in the race which was held on 1600 m. on turf track.

Al Shaqab Racing’s JABAL KASSYOUN (Burning Sand – Jakkarta / Kesberoy) finished the race as second while last year’s winner GÜMBÜRGÜMBÜR (Kaizbert – Kalamış Esintisi / Kalamış) came third and AMEER AL ARAB (Nizam - Al Basheq / Dormane) came fourth.

The prize for the winner was 65.000 € and the margins were 5 Length - 3 Length - Neck.

Mr. Ömer Faruk Girgin, Former President of the Jockey Club of Turkey, presented a trophy to the winning trainer François Rohaut, on behalf of the winning owner.

Mr. François Rohaut, received his plate from Mr. Louis Romanet, Chairman of IFHA.

Mr. Can Polat Eyigün, Executive Board Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey, presented a plate to François Xavier Bertras, the winning jockey.
 

Mr. Çetin Özdemir, Istanbul Veliefendi Racecourse Manager also attended to the ceremony.

SECRET NUMBER Is the Winner of International Bosphorus Cup

Godolphin’s SECRET NUMBER (Raven’s Pass – Mysterial / Alleged) became victorious at the International Bosphorus Cup (G2) with a finish time of 2.32.41 with his jockey Gerald Mosse and received the first prize of 180.000 Euro.

The longest distance race of the festival was held on 2400 meters on turf track with the participation of 6 thoroughbreds of 3yo. David Taylor’s ELBERETH (Mount Nelson - Masandra / Desert Prince) finished the race as second and followed by Yıldırım Gelgin’s VICTORY IS OURS (Victory Gallop – Lovely Doyoun / Doyoun ) and Vefa İbrahim Aracı’s CRIMEAN TATAR (Sea The Stars – Unity / Sadler’s Wells).

The margins of the race were: 2 Length – Neck – ½ Length.

Mr. Ercan Emre, Treasurer Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey presented a trophy to Mark Makstein, the representative of the winning owner.

Mr. Can Polat Eyigun, Executive Board Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey, presented a plate to Saeed Bin Suroor, the winning trainer, while Mr. Ekrem Beserler, Executive Board Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey presented a plate to Gerald Mosse, the winning jockey.

Me. Turgut Alakus, General Secretary of TJK and Mr. Sadettin Atığ, Executive Board Member of TJK also attended to the ceremony.
