Super Saver’s Daughter Letruska Wins G1 Apple Blossom Handicap

G1 Apple Blossom Handicap, being one of the most important races of the season in the USA, and previously won by champions such as Bayakoa, Paseana, Heavenly Prize, Azeri, Zenyatta, Havre de Grace, Untapable and Midnight Bisou, was held on Saturday, 17 April at Oaklawn Park.

Letruska (Super Saver - Magic Appeal / Successful Appeal), daughter of TJK Stallion Super Saver, won the challenging race with her jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.

4 yo and upwards 6 mares ran in the race, which was held on 1700 meters on dirt track. The finish time for the winner Letruska, trained by Fausto Gutierrez, was 1.43.14.

Monomoy Girl (Tapizar – Drumette / Henny Hughes), the favourite of the race who left 14 of 16 races it ran with victory, finished the race in second place. Swiss Skydiver (Daredevil – Expo Gold / Johannesburg), TJK stallion Daredevil’s 3 Group 1 winner daughter and chosen as the “Champion-3-Year-Old Filly” by Eclipse Awards, finished the race in third place.

Letruska, starting her career in Mexico in 2018 and winning 2 local G1 races, won Copa Invitacional del Caribe Stakes at Gulstream Park following her undefeated series of 6 races. She won a race in Oaklawn Park in 2020 and then won the Added Elegance Stakes, G3 Shuvee Stakes and G3 Rampart Stakes. At the first start of her in 2021 she won G3 Houston Ladies Classic Stakes. She finished the G2 Azeri Stakes in second place, following our stallion Daredevil’s G1 Kentucky Oaks winner daughter Shedaresthedevil. G1 Apple Blossom Handicap brought the 13th victory to Letruska at the 18th start of her career.
