One of the thoroughbreds who is representing our country successfully, “Grand Ekinoks” was placed third defeating one of the favorites of the race, Excalibur, at the second start on 24th of February Friday at Dubai Nad Al Sheba Racecourse.
With this third place, Grand Ekinoks made his owner R. Volkan Ekinci win $12.000 prizemoney. The winner’s prizemoney in the “ETISALAT GSM CUP” where 12 horses took the start on 2400 meters turf track was $78.000 and the total purse was $120.000. Jockey Halis Karataş rode Grand Ekinoks at the race.
One of the most important reasons that Grand Ekinoks was placed third was the deep track due to rain. It should be noted that Jersey Bounce won the race with 2:36:06 time was 6 kg less than Grand Ekinoks. One Little David placed was second in the race.
