International Racing Festival Ends
International Racing Festival was held on 6-7 September 2014 at Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul.
GLORY AWAITS Victorious in the Topkapi Trophy
On September 7th, GLORY AWAITS (Choisir – Sandbox Two / Foxhound), owned by Mr. Ahmad Abdulla Al Shaikh & Co and trained by Mr. Kevin Ryan, won Topkapi Trophy (G2) with his jockey Neil Callan. The finish time for GLORY AWAITS was 1.39.71.
Topkapi Trophy, the last international race of the festival in İstanbul, was held on one mile turf. 7 thoroughbreds 3 years old or up participated in the race and the winner was awarded with 270.000 Euro. Mr. Abdulla Al Mansoori’s OUR CHANNEL (English Channel-Raw Gold/Rahy) came second, Middleham Park Racing’s champion juvenile colt TOORMORE (Arakan-Danetime Out/Danetime) came third, and Mr. Murat Kadaifçioğlu’s EL CONQUERADOR (Okawango-Adhaaba/DayjurS) came fourth at the race with the margins of ½ L.-1 L-1/2 L.
The trophy was presented to winner’s connections, on behalf of the owners by Mr. Serdal Adalı, President of Jockey Club of Turkey.
Mr. Serdal Adalı, also presented the plates to winning trainer and winning jockey Neil Callan.
Mr. Osman Hattat, General Secretary of Jockey Club of Turkey and Dr. Ender Aydıner, Treasurer Member of Jockey Club of Turkey, also attended to the cup ceremony which was held at Honorary Grandstand.
SIVIT AL MAURY Won
the Malazgirt Trophy
Purebred Arabian SIVIT AL MAURY (Akbar - Savavit Al Maury / Dormane) owned by Mr. Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by François Rohaut won the Malazgirt Trophy (G1) with François Xavier Bertras. The finish time for the winner was 1.50.06.
6 Purebred Arabians of 3-year-old+ participated in the race which was held on 1600 m. on turf track. Royal Cavalry of Oman’s VULCAIN DU CLOS (Monsieur Al Maury-Jamaa Du Dreuil/Djouras Tu) came second, last year’s winner NO PROBLEM AL MAURY (Dormane-Nemosie Al Maury/Kesberoy) came third and MOUHEEB (Mared Al Sahra-Sandytiki/Burning Sand) finished the race as fourth. The prize for the winner was 65.000 Euro and the margins were 2 Length-1/2 L.-4 L.
After the race, Mr. Osman Hattat, General Secretary of Jockey Club of Turkey, presented the trophy to Mrs. Renee Laure Koch, on behalf of winning horse owner.
Mr. Behçet Homurlu, Vice President of EMHF and Member of Board of High Stewards, presented his plate to winning trainer Mr. François Rohaut and Mr. Sadettin Atığ, Board Member of Jockey Club of Turkey, gave a plate to winning jockey François Xavier Bertras.
Dr. Ender Aydıner, Treasurer Member of Jockey Club of Turkey and the guests also attended to the cup ceremony of the race which was held at Honorary Grandstand.
PETHER’S MOON
Is the Winner of Bosphorus Cup
John Manley’s PETHER’S MOON (Dylan Thomas – Softly Tread / Tirol) became victorious at International Bosphorus Cup (G2) with a finish time of 2.36.09 with his jockey Richard Hughes and received the first prize of 180.000 Euro.
The race was held on 2400 meters on turf track with the participation of 3yo+ thoroughbreds. Mr. Hikmet Ali Ataman’s VILLAGE WIND (Sri Pekan-Steel Girl/Shining Steel) came second, Frank Maria Van Gorp’s VIF MONSIEUR (Doyen – Vive Madame / Big Shuffle) came third and Stall Nizza’s mare NYMPHEA (Dylan Thomas-Neele/Peintre Celebre) came fourth.
In the race, margins were as follows: 1 Length–4 ½ L.-Far.
After the race, Mr. Vedat Mirmahmutoğulları, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and the President of Board of High Stewards, presented the cup and trophies to winning horse owner Mr. John Manley, trainer Mr. Richard Hannon and jockey Richard Hughes.
