Entries for the 93th Gazi Derby announced

93th running of Gazi Derby, which has been organised since 1927 to commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, will be held at 5:15 p.m. (local time) on Sunday, June 30th at Veliefendi Racecourse.

Entries for the 93th Gazi Derby, which is known as the most prestigious horse race of Turkish thoroughbred racing, were announced on Monday, June 24th.

22 thoroughbreds of 3yo entered for the big race which offers total purse of 2.847.585 TL (approximately 495.000 US$) for the winner, including the first prize, entry fees, owner & breeder’s premium.

Turkish 2000 Guineas winner Yamanlarbeyi (Torok), last year’s G1 Caldiran Stakes (Turkish Grand Criterium) winner Long Runner (Gio Ponti), 1000 Guineas winner Hürat (Torok), The Last Romance (Tizway), who wins the Turkish Oaks, Scoutleo (Victory Gallop), who relishes the longer distance in derby trial G2 Mehmet Akif Ersoy Stakes, are among the 3yo thoroughbreds which are entered for the 93th Gazi Derby, the second leg of Turkish Triple Crown.

As always, thousands of racing fans, members of the horse racing society, politicians, state officials, prominent figures in sport, business and art will be at Veliefendi Racecourse for the country’s greatest horse race.
