Daredevil’s Daughter Swiss Skydiver is named
“Champion 3-year-old Filly”
50th Eclipse Awards, known as the Oscars of Horse Racing and organized annually by NTRA, was held virtually on Thursday, 28 January, presented by Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky – Lexington.
Daredevil’s daughter Swiss Skydiver was named “Champion 3-Year-Old Filly at the Ceremony, honouring the champions of 2020, in different categories. Swiss Skydiver, winning G1 Preakness Stakes over G1 Kentucky Derby and G1 Breeders’ Cup winner Authentic, who was named “Horse of the Year” at the Ceremony, received the Champion 3-Year-Old title by getting the 218 of the 238 votes.
Swiss Skydiver was purchased for 35.000 USD at the Keeneland Sales in 2018, and left Maiden at the first start of its career on 16 November 2019. The successful thoroughbred finished 3rd at the G2 race on 15 February 2020 and then obtained its first Group victory at the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. Its victory at the G3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park in May was followed by an easy win at the G2 Santa Anita Oaks. Swiss Skydiver, being one of the first generation representatives of our stallion Daredevil, was placed second at the G2 Blue Grass Stakes in Keeneland. Alabama Stakes in August, brought the first G1 victory to Swiss Skydiver. She finished 146th Kentucky Oaks in second place, following Shedaresthedevil, another successful representative of Daredevil.
Swiss Skydiver went down in history at the 146th Preakness Stakes, as the 6th filly to win this important race with the second best time after the champion thoroughbred Secretariat (1.53.00).
