International Racing Festival has ended
International Racing Festival, was held in 1-2 September, 2012 at the Veliefendi Racetrack in Istanbul. MASTER OF HOUNDS won the Topkapi Trophy, MITICO was the winner of the Bosphorus Cup and the Malazgirt Trophy’s winner was HILAL AL ZAMAN.
The Final Day at the Festival
With the wins of Topkapi and Malazgirt Trophies, the winners of five major races were the guest horses. MITICO won the Bosphorus Cup in which none of guest horses started.
On the last day of the festival, when the most important races were held, a crowd of was buzzing with joy and excitement at the racecourse, despite the windy weather. İbrahim Yiğit, the President of the Committee of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs; Vedat Mirmahmutoğulları, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, also the President of the Board of High Stewards; as well as ambassadors, businessmen and also many representatives of foreign racing authorities and other guests attended the final day of the festival hosted by the Board of Directors of the Jockey Club of Turkey.
MASTER OF HOUNDS won the Topkapi Trophy
On September 2nd , Sheikh Hamdan Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s MASTER OF HOUNDS (Kingmambo - Silk And Scarlet / Sadler's Wells) won the G2 Topkapi Trophy, the most important race of the Racing Festival, with jockey Christophe Soumillon. Master of Hounds had a time of 1.34.49 in the race. He edged Archbishop after a thrilling stretch duel to win the International Topkapi Trophy.
The winner was awarded with 270.000 Euro, and Catesby W. Clay's ARCHBISHOP (Arch-Avaricity/Carson City) came second, Stall 5-Star Company’s INDOMITO (Areion-Insola/Royal Solo) came third, and Hakkı Yener's FAST STARS LINE (Ajmera-Free Fighter/Mujtahid) came fouth. In the race, the margins were Neck - 2,5 L - 1,5 L.
The trophy was presented to trainer William John Haggas, on behalf of the owner Sheikh Hamdan Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum by Vedat Mirmahmutoğulları, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, also the President of the Board of High Stewards.

HILAL AL ZAMAN won the Emirates Equestrian Federation of United Arab Emirates International Malazgirt Trophy.
Emirates Equestrian Federation International Malazgirt Trophy was won by HILAL AL ZAMAN (Mencour - Amal Al Thania) with a time of 1.45.09 ,with jockey Jean Baptiste Hamel.
The 1600-meter race on turf, with the winner’s prize of 65.000 € Euro, where three years old or older purebred Arabians raced, Nurbiye Gülerce’s DARFUR came second, Athbah Stud Ltd. Company’s BIGG N RICH (Falina Des Fabries-Viraac) came third, and Gülnur Gülerce's KURTEL (Bilgin-Mebruke.91/Rüzgar.30) was fourth.
The trophy was presented to the owner Mohammed Al Nujaifi by Khalid Khalifa Al Mualla, Consul General of United Arab Emirates,.
The plate was presented to the trainer Damien De Watrigant by Ahmet Al Rometal, the Member of Presidential Committee of UAE, to the jockey Jean Baptiste Hamel by Talip El Mutayni, the General Secretary of Riding Federation of UAE.
Salim El Kaddai, the Manager of Racing of your majesty’s UAE president, presented a gift to Ömer Faruk Girgin, the President of the Jockey Club of Turkey.

MITICO won the Bosphorus Cup
Bosphorus Cup was won by Necati Demirkol’s thoroughbred MITICO (Red Bishop - Princess Galina / Spectrum) by 2.33.37 with his jockey Selim Kaya.
In the 2400-meter race on turf, where three years old or older thoroughbreds raced, Nevzat Seyok’s HANBEŞ (Mohan-Milagrose/Doyoun) finished second, A. Ziya Kutnak's KUTBEY (Strike The Gold-Tenderly/Private Tender) finished third. Additionally, in this race, FLAMINGO FANTASY, RETRIEVE and INSPECTOR was withdrawn.
Vedat Mirmahmutoğulları, the Undersecretary of Ministry of the Food, Agriculture and Livestock and the President of the Board of High Stewards, presented the Cup to Necati Demirkol, the owner of the winner “Mitico”.
The prizes was presented to jockey Selim Kaya and Zülfikar Güneli, on behalf of the trainer Ali Saçan by İbrahim Yiğit, the President of the Committee of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs.

BROWSER won the Horse Racing Ireland Stakes
The one mile turf race for three years old thoroughbreds was won by Gülşen Kara’s BROWSER (Okawango - Hidden White / Marlin), with jockey Akin Sozen with a time of 1.36.79.
T. İzzet Aksoy's KRONOS (Sports Hero-Maçivet/Best Of The Best) finished second, S. Selman Taşbek's SOKOLLU (Soviet Star-Afto/Relaunch) finished third, Bülent Gökkan's FULL TIME TRAGEDY (Manila-Femme Sauvage/Loup Sauvage) finished fourth.
The prizes were presented to Gülşen Kara, owner of Browser, by Elaine Hatton, the General Manager of the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.
The prize was presented to jockey Akin Sozen, by a Member of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.

WORLDSTAGE won the Morocco Sorec Stakes
The 1200-meter turf race for two years old thoroughbreds was won by WORLDSTAGE (Footstepsinthesand - Overberry / Grand Slam) with jockey Halis Karatas with a degree of 1.11.96.
ÇİĞDEMCAN (Always Surprise-Zehva/Sarısaka) finished second, MY MOON FACE (Cockney Rebel-Proserpine/Robellino) finished third, and SEMAHAT (Bin Ajwaad-Eleonor/Eagle Eyed) was fourth.
The prizes was presented to owner Faruk Tınaz by Driss Belghazi, the Manager of Betting Manager of SOREC.
The prize was presented to trainer Ziya Ustaoglu by Yaser Ghalep, the Administrator of SOREC.

FEGENTRI World Championship Gentlemen Ladies Riders Race was won by BABA KARTAL
The FEGENTRI World Champinoship Gentlemen Ladies Riders Race, participated by Turkish and foreign lady riders was won by BABA KARTAL, with Dutch rider T.V.D. Broek Humphreij with a time of 1.37.91.
In the race, KING CITRUS (Always A Classic-Saratoga Stage/Saratoga Six) finished second with the German rider Berit Weber, SUNNY LEONE (Muratcan-My Joba/Barnato) third with the Irish rider Lisa O’Neill, and KIZILCAN (Out Of Sight-Fairy Bridge/Tender Cook) fourth with the Italian rider Jessica Marcialis.

RHYTHM OF LIGHT won the International Istanbul Trophy
The International Istanbul Trophy, with a prize of 115.000 € (Euro) to the winner was won by RHYTHM OF LIGHT (Beat Hollow - Luminda / Danehill) owned by Lowe Silver Deal, with jockey Richard Kingscote with a time of 1.34.03.
Benny Andersson's BEATRICE AURORE (Danehill Dancer-Mondschein/Rainbow Quest) came second, Sultan Ali's ARSAADI (Dubawi-Arsad/Cape Cross) third, and Eckhard Sauren's SURVEY (Big Shuffle-Shadow Queen/Lando) fourth.

TZAR DU PAON won the IFAHR Trophy
The International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) Race was won by TZAR DU PAON (Dormane - Bint El Bedia / Elias) owned by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum with jockey Tadhg O’Shea with a time of 2.26.61.
The winner’s prize of the 2100 metre race on the poly-track was 45.000 € (Euro) and THEORETICALLY (Doran-First Ladie) came second, GHARRA'A (Matador-Wadha Al Thania) third, and BAYHAN (Albatur-Totayım/Thunder Tiki) fourth.
The prize was presented to trainer Gillian Duffield, on behalf of the owner Hamdan Al Maktoum by Ziya Adalar, the Board Member of IFAHR.

DANSING RIVER won the KRA Trophy
The 1 mile polytrack race for three years old thoroughbred fillies was won by DANSING RIVER (Unaccounted For - Volda River / Mujtahid), with jockey Harun Kilicarslan with a time of 1.38.54.
The winner’s prize of race was 65.000 TL (Turkish Lira). YOU AGAIN (Divine Light-Bella Otero/Rakan) came second, AAPIN(Başpilot-Argunba/Mukaddamah) third, and GOLDEN STEP (Gold Away - Chanteleau / A.P.Indy) fourth.
The prize was presented to the Şener Baykal by Yong Hyun Hong, the Board Member of KRA.
Yong Hyun Hong also gave their prizes to Şener Baykal and jockey Harun Kilicarslan.

The winner prize of 115.000 € (Euro) France Galop (FRBC) Anatolian Trophy was won by HUNTER’S LIGHT (IRE) (Dubawi - Portmanteau / Barathea) owned by Godolphin stable, with jockey Lanfranco Dettori with a time of 2.03.08.
ZAZOU (Shamardal-Zaza Top/Lomitas) of the Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov, The President of Republic of Chechnya, came second with jockey Andreas Suborics, and Asaad Al Banwan's PRINCE ALZAIN (Street Sense-Monaassabaat/Zilzal) came third with Frederik Johansson; and Pjl Cooper & Baker Stable’s BELGIAN BILL (Exceed and Excel-Gay Romance/Singspiel) came fourth.
