Australian Trade Delegation
visited the Veliefendi Racecourse

Victorian Racing Minister and the Trade Delegation from Australia, who were visiting our country for various contacts, visited the Istanbul Veliefendi Racecourse. The Delegation met with TJK President Serdal Adalı, General Secretary Osman Hattat, Members of the Board of Directors and TJK General Manager Tuncel Aydın at the Protocol Hall.

The guests visited the Equine Hospital and were briefed by the relevant persons. After visiting the Saddling Area and the Doping Area, the delegation members then went to the TJK Museum. After lunch, the delegates watched the races and left the racecourse.

In addition to Minister Dr. Denis Napthine, Ms Amanda Elliot, the Vice President of the Victorian Racing Club, and Ms Sue Lloyd-Williams, the Director of the Victoria Racing Club were also in the delegation.
  

During his meeting with Dr. Denis Napthine, the Minister of Racing, Projects and Cities, TJK President Mr Serdal Adalı said the following: We are very happy to be hosting the Esteemed Minister and the Delegation here. Our equine relations with Australia have been continuing for many years now.  We send our apprentices to Australia for training. Our relations will increasingly continue. I would like to thank Mr Minister for having visited us.

Minister Denis Napthine also expressed his happiness to Mr Serdal Adalı for being at the Veliefendi Racecourse. Minister Napthine told that it was his first time in Istanbul and that he liked the city a lot. Minister Napthine added that they have had many commercial contacts in Turkey, and that they wish to further improve their relations particularly with the Turkish Equine sector.


During their visit, the delegation also displayed the cup for the 2013 Melbourne Cup Race.

The second day program of the Australian Delegation

During the organisation held at the Byerley Turk Hall on February 28, Thursday, the companies operating in the equine business in Victoria were introduced by Sue Lloyd-Williams. The guests were briefed about the operation of Victoria Racing Club and the point the equestrian activities have reached over a period of hundred years at the state. The speakers expressed that the Turkish Equine sector, growing fast, will even grow further, and added that they are ready for all support and cooperation in this respect.

During the event, a presentation introducing Black Caviar, the phenomenal championship in the world equestrian field, was given. After the organisation and the introductions, the representatives of the companies in the delegation started talking to guests one by one.

Sue Lloyd-Williams thanked the General Secretary Osman Hattat, on behalf of the Jockey Club of Turkey, for the warm care and assistance provided, and presented a gift.



In addition to TJK General Secretary Osman Hattat; İlyas İlbey, member of the Board of Directors, TJK Principal Members and TJK General Manager Tuncel Aydın as well as horse owners and breeders attended the organisation.
