SUZI GOLD won the Turkish Oaks

 

SUZİ GOLD (Banknote– Golden Leaf/ West By West) owned by Hulusi Çil crossed the finish line ahead with her jockey Gökhan Gökçe, at the 59th running of the Turkish Oaks (Open – G1 / F) considered to be one of the most distinctive test platforms where fillies compete to prove their mettle prior to Gazi Derby which is one of the most important races of Turkish Horseracing. Among the prominent classic runs of Turkish Horseracing, Gazi Derby is held annually in the name of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Turkish Oaks constitutes the second part of Triple Crown and if the winner SUZİ GOLD also wins the Ankara Race (Turkish St Leger) she will achieve to make Triple Crown and receive the prize of 1.350.000 TL.

22 fillies, which are 3 yo, participated in the race held on turf track on 2100 meters with the first prize of 550.000 TL at İstanbul Veliefendi Racecourse on Sunday, June 8th. While Mr. Mehmet B. Gökkan’s ADAKARASI (Bekmezbey-Themis/Celtic Swing) came second with her jockey Uğur Polat and Mr. İlyas İlbey’s TWINSEA (Divine Light-Shiero/Castle Rising)  came third with Murat Gündüzeli; Mr. V. İbrahim Aracı’s CYRSTAL CLEAR (Powerscourt-Orama’s Ghost/Golan) came fourth with her jockey George Baker. 

SUZİ GOLD, winner of the race, crossed the finish line with a finish time of 2.14.29 and the margins of the race are as follows: 4 ½ Length - 1 Length - 1 Length.

SUZİ GOLD started its racing life on 14th June of 2013 at Veliefendi Racecourse with a Maiden Race. Today, on her 11st start, SUZİ GOLD came first for three times in a row and seven times in total. Bay filly aged 3, lastly won the 1000 Guineas (Gr-1) at 1600 meters at Istanbul Veliefendi Racecourse with her jockey Gökhan Gökçe on 18th May 2014.

 

Mrs. Neriman Çil received the Cup on behalf of the horse owner Mr. Hulusi Çil, from Mr. Osman Hattat, the General Secretary of the Jockey Club of Turkey.

 

 

 

Mr. Can Güven, Board Member of The Jockey Club of Turkey presented a plate to winning trainer Cemil Turan while Mr. Ender Aydıner, Treasurer Member of The Jockey Club of Turkey,  presented a plate to winning jockey Gökhan Gökçe.

 

 

Mr. Ercan Emre, Permanent Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey, also attended to the Cup Ceremony which was held in Honorary Grandstand.
